Prof (Dr) A K Gupta, FAMS, is a distinguished expert in Healthcare Strengthening, renowned for catalysing transformative change. Presently heading AIIMS Bathinda and former Dean (Research) at PGI Chandigarh, he is celebrated as the 'Teacher of Teachers.' With over 34 years of comprehensive experience as faculty at two best National Institutes i.e. AIIMS, New Delhi and PGIMER, Chandigarh. He excels in hospital administration, medical education, and health system enhancement. His accomplishments span diverse domains including quality improvement, operations management, and leadership in healthcare.

Education and Experience: Dr. Gupta graduated from Govt. Medical College, Jammu, and pursued higher studies at AIIMS, New Delhi in 1986. He holds a multifaceted portfolio, having served as Medical Superintendent (1996-2021) cum Senior Professor & Head Dept of Hospital Administration at PGIMER, Chandigarh and previously at AIIMS N Delhi (1998-1996). He is nationally known for consistently driven impactful healthcare initiatives, leaving an indelible mark on the hospitals in India.

Achievements: Dr. Gupta's contributions extend beyond administrative roles. His guidance has propelled numerous students to eminent positions, exemplified by Lieutenant Generals, Air Marshals, AIIMS Directors, and Professors. He holds the distinction of being the longest-serving Medical Superintendent cum Professor & Head in the nation. His consultancy for SEARO WHO across several countries since 2000 A.D. onwards showcases his international influence. Notably, he spearheaded Capacity Building Programs under the Pardhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).

Innovations: Several innovative initiatives under Dr. Gupta's leadership have garnered acclaim. The pioneering Tele-Evidence concept, integrated into Digital India, bears the potential to save substantial costs. His Decision Support System (DSS) at PGIMER optimized patient stays, enhancing efficiency. The Cornea Retrieval Program, if scaled nationally, could eradicate cornea-related blindness in India.

Social Involvement: Dr. Gupta extends his expertise beyond institutions. He actively contributed as Regional Convenor for the Healthcare Committee at PHD Chambers and mentors in the Healthcare & Life Sciences program at CII Chandigarh UT.
